Government Industrial Training Institute Dollygunj Port Blair was established in the year 1988 under Andaman Nicobar Administration. The primary function of this Institute is to train young boys/ girls in various vocational trades approved by NCVT. The Institute is coming up with all workshop and other infrastructural facilities for carrying out the various training programs to meet the current development in the field of vocational training.The Institution is housed in a picturesque location at Dollygunj, Pot Blair in a campus encompassing the Office building, Hostels and Staff Quarters spread over 5.00 hectares of land. The Institution is affiliated to The National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), Delhi that provides the approved curriculum of All India Trade Test for all the trades.

This Institute has two types of training viz.

a) Training in Engineering trades

b)      Training in Non-Engineering trades

Candidates are admitted to the course in the month of August every year.

A well-furnished Boys Hostel to accommodate 40 Boys is available within the premises of the Institute.Girl students are accommodated in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic's Girls Hostel at Pahargaon.Allotment is made purely on eligibility criteria & availability of rooms.

Note: The trainees seeking admission to the hostel are required to go through the hostel rules available with the hostel warden and sign an undertaking in this regard.

Other Activities

  • Conduct Related Instruction Classes for Apprentice Trainees of various departments under the Apprenticeship act of 1961.
  • This institute is serving as the Trade Test Center for conducting the All India Trade Test (Apprentices) for various trades in these Islands.

Library:

  1. The institute has a library with sufficient books relevant to the courses conducted in this institute, where the trainees can refer the technical books, journals, magazines, newspapers etc..

Audio Visual Aids :

  1. This institute has a well-furnished Audio Visual room with modern Audio Video Equipments and Teaching Aids such as Computers, LCD projectors, OHP etc. to impart Craftsmen Training effectively..

Canteen:

  1. The Institute is having a well-furnished canteen for trainees and staff within the campus runs on co-operative basis..

Conveyance:

  1. The institution has a bus for the conveyance and Industrial Visits of trainees and staff..
