ISSUE
OF APPLICATION FORMS FOR ADMISSION
The Notice, inviting application is published in leading Newspapers of
these Islands and also displayed in The offices of Asst. Commissioners at Car
Nicobar, Nancowry, Campbell Bay Mayabunder, Assistant Labour
Commissioner’s Office at Rangat and the
Office of the Tehsildar, Hutbay, during the month of June/July every
year.
Application form with prospectus will be issued from the following places
on all working days from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

General merit quota open to all the residents of A&N Islands irrespective of their classification. This will be subject to the condition that the candidates in this category have studied the last two-years and passed the qualifying examination in these Islands. |

Physical
fitness
The candidate/trainee has to
under go medical examination and obtain the medical certificate as prescribed in
Annexure – III of the Application Form, from a Govt. Doctor or a registered
Medical Practitioner.
Age
limit
a) Candidates seeking admission to the various trades should be within the age group of
14 – 25 years as on 1st August 2003.
b) The upper age limit is relaxable up to five years for the scheduled tribes and physically handicapped candidates.

Infrastructure
Library
The
institute has a library with sufficient books relevant to the courses conducted
in this institute, where the trainees can refer the technical books,
journals, magazines, newspapers etc.
This
institute has a well-furnished Audio Visual room with modern Audio Video
Equipments and Teaching Aids such as Computers, LCD projectors, OHP etc. to
impart Craftsmen Training effectively.
Canteen
The Institute is having a well-furnished canteen for trainees and staff within the campus runs on co-operative basis.
The institution has a bus for the conveyance and Industrial Visits of trainees and staff.
Human
Resource Development
For up -gradation of practical knowledge and skill, the trainees are sent to reputed Private & Public sector firms / Departments on industrial tours / visits.
Examinations
The all India trade test (final / supplementary) for craftsman under the craftsman training scheme for both the engineering and non-engineering trades are conducted in the months of July and February of every year respectively, by the NCVT, DGE&T, New Delhi.

The
Scheduled Tribe Students who are bonafide residents of Union Territories are
exempted from payment of Examination Fee for a period of five years w.e.f. the
financial year 1999 - 2000 up to 2003-2004.
Attendance
The minimum compulsory attendance for trainees in regard to their eligibility for appearing in the final trade test is 80 % of the actual number of working days.
Conduct
and Discipline
The
trainees should maintain discipline / conduct himself within and outside the
premises of the institute. They should also abide by the disciplinary rules of
the institution laid down from time to time. The institute has the right to take
Disciplinary action against any trainee at any time for reason deemed
sufficient.
Industrial
Tours
As per the curriculum of NCVT, the trainees of various trades are taken to the reputed Industries / Govt. establishments, relevant to their trades. These Industrial / educational tours provides exposure to the latest technologies, tools and equipments etc. which helps the trainees in meeting the industrial demands.
a) A stipend of rupees one hundred (Rs.100.00) will be paid per trainee per month.
b) Free workshop clothing / overalls and stationeries will be provided as applicable to the trainees.
c) The institution has a bus for the conveyance and industrial visits of trainees.
Holidays
All Saturdays (except first Saturday) and Gazetted holidays are observed. There is no summer vacation.
A well-furnished Boys Hostel to accommodate 40 Boys is available within the premises of the Institute.
Girl students are accommodated in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic's Girls Hostel at Pahargaon.
Allotment
is made purely on eligibility criteria & availability of rooms.
Note:
The trainees seeking admission to
the hostel are required to go through the hostel rules available with the hostel
warden and sign an undertaking in this regard.
Other Activities
1.Conduct Related
Instruction Classes for Apprentice Trainees of various departments under the
Apprenticeship act of 1961.
2.This institute is serving as the Trade Test Center for conducting the All India Trade Test (Apprentices) for various trades in these Islands.
The Industrial Training Institute has established a Placement cell to get the feed back of the passed-out trainees and to guide them to take up self-employment ventures.

Ø The applicant should fill the application in his/her own hand writing in capital
letters.
Ø
A recent attested passport size photograph should be affixed in the
space provided.
Ø
A Govt. doctor or a registered medical practitioner should issue the
medical certificate.
Ø
All Xerox copies of the certificates attached should be attested by a
gazetted officer.
Ø Children of central govt. employees / deputationist are required to produce a certificate certifying the deputation category and the duration of the tenure in these islands duly signed & sealed by the concerned head of the department.
Ø
The incomplete or applications received after last date will not be
accepted.
Ø
The last date of submission of application form shall be intimated in
the local newspaper or on All India Radio, Port Blair. The admissions shall
begin in the month of July of this year.
Ø The candidates are required to produce the original certificates during their interview.
The
cost of the Information Brochure is Rs. 25/- only.
